Afternoon,

Apologies if I've posted in the wrong forum.

My Wife, Natalia is here in the UK on a UK Spouse Visa expiring approximately June 2018. We are due our first child on April 19th 2017 and would like to know if anybody could point us in the right direction on getting information regarding dual nationality?

We would like to have 2 passports for our child, British and Russian. Also, we would like to fly out as soon as we could soon after the birth.

Any information would be great.

Congratulations about the child that you will have in April.

About the dual nationality, after the birth of the child your wife will have to register the child in the Russian Embassy.

There are quite a few forum members that will be able to provide you with the information about how your wife can register the child after the child is born.

Thank you for the response.

So we would register the baby as normal with the registry office to acquire a British birth certificate and then additionally book an appointment with the Russian Embassy to get the relevant Russian birth certificate, which will then set us up for the Passport application?

Correct. Get the UK birth registration done first and then initiate the Russian citizenship process after that. The following thread is still relevant although you need to read through the whole lot as a few things did change which are detailed in the later posts.

Thank you for that, certainly puts more clarification on this matter.

Lastly, will my Wife need to inform the Home Office or any other authority that she has given birth and will our baby be subject to the financial requirements for the extension of her UK Spouse Visa, when her existing visa expires?

No, your baby will have no bearing on your wife's UK settlement status and there are no additional financial requirements with regards to her visa renewals.
