Hi All... hope you're all well,

Over the past five years, Olya has received 8-10 Schengen visas without a problem. We're now planning a trip to France in September, and have an appointment booked at TLScontact for France.

Regarding the marriage certificate, we've always used a translation from Yelena @ Talk Russian. Never a problem.

However, it now seems that a new clause has been added to the document requirements: "Official translation must be certified as a true copy by the Russian Embassy / Consulate".

Maybe this only applies to France? We've never applied via the French Embassy before.

Anyone with any recent experience of this? Will the French Embassy insist on a 'certified' translation', or will Talk Russian's translation suffice (as it has done for the past five years)?

As so often is the case, it seems a ridiculous requirement; Olya never would have received her FLR / Residence Permit if our marriage / marriage certificate was not authentic.

Cheers in advance for any advice...

Adam

Quick follow-up. Applied with the same TalkRussian translation that we've used for the past five years. It was readily accepted; no mention at all of any need for a notarised translation.

Also: No need to supply proof of travel (plane tickets, hotel confirmation, etc). Simply complete the Statement form instead:

Apparently, this applies to all Spouse of an E.U. citizen Short stay Schengen Visa applications. There's no requirement to supply proof of travel.
