I need some advice on the process of how my girlfriend can get a visa to come visit me here in the UK next summer. We've known each other since last June, and have met multiple times, in St. Petersburg and in Finland.

Our chief concerns are that she is still 17 (will be 18 after this summer), we're both students, and that she lives in St. Petersburg. We have both our parents' blessing, but I had previously read on other threads and on the government website (https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor-visa/if-youre-under-18) that we need quite a few other items before we can do anything.

Admittedly, I have only been researching this topic for a few hours. I've read that I can be her "sponsor" - what does this mean? What is the process for her in St. Petersburg (as I read on http://realrussia.co.uk/Visas/UK/EN that this service isn't available to her)?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

Under 18, and no reason to return to Russia other than parents and Uni, difficult to get a visa..

A sponsor has to show satisfactory income, which as a student, you may not be able to..

May be best to just have her apply for a tourist visa instead...
