Hi do you need to register in Sevastopol like in other cities of Russia?

I assume that its ok to go there with a Russian visa and not needing a special extra visa from Ukraine now ?
I am asking as getting conflicting info and am trying to book to go for a visit there

Yes, you need to register in Sevastopol like in other cities of Russia.
If you go from Russia to Sevastopol, no Ukrainian extra permit needed.
But if you ever go to Ukraine afterwards then can be fined for illegal visit of Crimea.
As their law says that foreigners only can visit Crimea entering it from territory of Ukraine and only with their permit.

What if the op registers in RU, travels to Crimea by car with a Russian driver, no need to show passport/visa, then stays in a private residence for 5/6 days, then leaves.

No evidence of visit..

I think it's possible. Fly to Sochi, then car with a Russian driver via Kerch Strait ferry line to Sevastopol.

Fly to Anapa, it's much closer than Sochi, 120 km's as opposed to 435 km's. They are currently loads of road improvements and new sections of dual carriage way construction etc. underway in the area to get tourists and trade into the area quicker and easier.

That was my thoughts also...

Sochi to Anapa is a good 10/12 hours drive.... Road conditions and traffic dependant...
