Has anyone applied to the French consulate in Moscow for a Schengen for their spouse? As I understand it the visa should be issued without charge, although I do know that the Estonian consulate has been charging people for it.
How straight forward was the process? We've been told via the visa help line that we do not need to book an appointment and can just turn up.
So, I'd be grateful if anyone who has already done this could share their experience.

Thanks, y-ola; it's not quite the same situation. We're not moving to France, just going for a holiday. I was just wondering if the French consulate here in Moscow was playing by the rules. I have been told that they are one of the better consulates and do indeed provide a free visa very promptly.
And it should say spouse visa - no, I don't know what a souse visa is either....
