Not exactly cheapest option if you are flying immediately but BMI are doing LHR to DME £197 in a sale at the moment.

Outward journey must be before 15 June 2011 & return before 15 Dec 2011. Must make your booking by 28 Jan.

Possibly useful for someone planning/thinking of travel for easter/summer?

(PS no connection with BMI other than being on their mailing list)

We booked x2 flights from London Gatwick to St Petersburg on 19th June returning 2 weeks later with Rossiya for a bargain price of £176.00 with Lastminute.com yesterday. Peak season in St Petersburg during White Nights, well happy with that price and Gatwick is only around 30-40 minutes away from me.

Hi All
I've just booked my flight to Niznhy Novogorod in April and found the price difference extreme. Lufthansa wanted over £600 but I got it for £231 using S7, who seem to have joined up with BA in some way. These flights have only just started to appear, as I haven't seen them before. I'm not complaining though, just means a long wait when I return to London (about 5-6hrs in Dom).

We booked flights to SPb 10 days ago with Rossiya (flying out in the middle of March). The total came to £319 return which was for 2 adults and a 1 year old child. BA wanted nearly £700 from us for the same dates so I think we got a pretty good deal by flying with Rossiya

RE: Rossiya Airlines...looks like you get what you pay for where customer service is concerned...i.e. zero customer service!

My wife accidentally managed to put my surname as my first name and vice versa in Rossiya's online booking form when she booked our flights a couple of weeks ago. She also forgot to specify any particular dietry requirements.

So at the beginning of last week she sent them a message asking them if they could please make the required changes to our booking (there is no email address so you can only use the "contact form" on their website) but over a week later she has still had no response from them, not even any acknowledgement of the receipt of her query. So today she phoned their office in Russia only to be told that there was nothing they could do and they cannot change any details for the booking on their system (?????). The only way my wife can get anything changed is to physically visit one of their offices in person. Not really a lot of use when Rossiya don't even have any offices in the UK. What a crappy archaic and unfriendly way of having to do things but I guess it's what we have come to expect where Russian customer service is involved

So all we can do now is hope we won't have any issues at check-in and we will have to take sandwiches onboard with us

Sorry to hear about this and I do hope you have no trouble checking in. It all seems odd: I managed to change the dietary request on the phone a year or so ago, when I forgot. That was when they had a London office but it's surely likely to be the same system. And before they started the flights again yet I knew theywere going to, when I couldn't find the new timetable I used the contact form and got a friendly (yes) reply within the day. And in English. I'll have a look just in case I've got the name of the person who replied, though it's unlikely.

Maybe - another aspect of Russian customer service - it was just the person your wife spoke to.

Good luck anyway.

Incidentally, for what it's worth, my wife has just sent in the post the new (Ministry) invitation. Not a courier, but Westpost to Finland and then standard Finnish mail. 1400 roubles!! Seems to me it could have been DHL direct for that much, and that would have been quicker.

Michael...yes, I was also previously able to do the same (change dietry requirements by email) but that was a couple of years ago when the airline was still in the hands of Pulkovo Airlines and when they had a London office (which used to be based at Gatwick). Even if they did have a London office again now then I still think it's unreasonable to expect someone to have to visit the office in person to get something changed on a booking, especially when people might not live anywhere near London/Gatwick.

Anyway, not much we can do except get my wife to phone again in the hope that she gets someone who is prepared to try and be a bit more helpful next time rather than the seemingly "it's your fault and we can't really be bothered" type attitude. I've told her to try ringing the Moscow office this time instead of the St Petersburg office so I'll let you know how she gets on.

I always use lastminute.com for Rossiya flights.

We checked lastminute but didn't find them to be any cheaper. In fact the flights we booked direct with Rossiya were actually very slightly more expensive through lastminute for the same dates for whatever reason so we just cut out the unnecessary middle man and went direct through Rossiya

I'm told that Rossiya have a promotion on for flights from St.Petersburg - London (LGW) - St.Petersburg running from 10 March to 31 May. Something like 7000-10,000 RUB
Dunno about LGW - LED - LGW though.

just had one way to novosibirsk from s7 £316 was the cheapest i could get. first leg to moscow is on BA and then second leg to nsk is on s7. Aeroflot actually work out cheaper for me getting a return at £550 but there is a lot of waiting in moscow. I usually book my flights quite late though sometimes a few days before i go.

Just booked our flights for December - January (we go away Just before Christmas and return in the new year), just short of £180 each, flying from Heathrow to St Petersburg with Lufthansa on the outbound journey and SAS on the inbound journey.

Only 13 days to go until we go again!

Yep, longest i've ever been away from Russia in last 4 years, must be close on 7 months, previously I had never gone longer than 2 months without visiting.

Been looking at a site with construction of Zenit's new stadium and found a picture forum about St Petersburg, some amazing pictures! Magnificent splendid looking City!

Wonderful that they have a new stadium being built a good football side. But !!!

A pity that the huge sums of money being spent (on all the new stadiums) are not being used to improve more important things that effect the every day lives of the general population of this third world country
