Is it a return, and if so what do you want for it? Slava should go see his relatives (who are only a mere 14 hour train ride from Moscow...).

Anyone any experience of flying with Brussels Airlines?

Just found return ticket for wifey and little 'un from LHR to Domo via Brussels (with decent connection and onward travel times) £248.

Next you're going to tell me they only serve sprouts for lunch!

I won't care where the loo is after that!

LHR - DME - LHR @ 248 doesn't seem majorly cheap (recently booked BMI for 230). Keep your eyes open for sales from BMI, Lufthansa and others. Times are getting hard and seats need to be filled.

Trust me, £248 return for 1 adult and 1 child is one of the cheapest prices I've found bearing in mind we only had specific dates, we have to fit it around connecting train times, we don't want to be sitting around for hours at an airport or arrive at 2 o clock in the morning.
The frustrating thing is, we had already booked through BMI (for a direct flight to make it easier) and we paid £402.

Hunting for the cheapest is fine when you're a lone traveller and you can travel whenever you like.

Try booking flight,s if you can for a tuesday,i read somewhere that it can be the cheapest..my missus went out on the 5th june-21st..BMI(Transearo) £223.
And like Ian she dosent want to be sitting around like she did last Nov(flight delayed at LHR,due to fog)and had to wait till the following day to catch the train to Kazan, that we booked via RR,then a 4 hour bus ride to Naberezhyne Chelny..51 hours from home to there..nightmare !!!.She had fixed dates due to work...john

Just out of interest, was the £223 for a return ticket for 1 adult only?

Yes Ian..booked through their website...........LHR/DME....we booked it 2 month,s before Natty was due to fly..and the flight was re-sched from 1045 to 0915,which was better, gave Natty plenty of time to get something to eat,and not rush around like a headless chicken..even though her train wasent till 2210 out of Moscow/Kazan..........I just love this trip..36 hour,s normally..greattttttttt...

Yeah sometimes we win sometimes we lose out. Olga's trip is usually around 24/25 hours from LHR to Yoshkar-Ola, but add the journey from Scarborough to Heathrow plus a hotel for the night so she can catch the early flight and it turns into a bit of a trek, particularly when she's having to drag our 3 year old around with her!
Most flights arrive too late to get to Kazansky in time for the 4.30ish train direct to Yoshkar, so she has to get the Cheboksary train and then a delightful bus journey, which is brilliant after +24 hours on the move.
Flying direct to Kazan via Lufthansa would be great apart from the £1000 price tag and the crappy arrival and departure time.
Problem is half the time these airlines swap and change their departure/arrival times and what works pne year doesn't necessarily work the next. We've even contemplated flying to Piter, to then get the Cheboksary train but it doesn't really give us any advantage in either convenience or price.

We just drive direct to LHR in time for her flgt(4 1/2hrs)..or when we both go.park up the car via purple parking(im a member) discounted price..

Same with Natty, arrival times/departure times.and as you say the price.i know it,s a pain by train, but for the price/time we prefer the SLOW TRAIN..wow!!!

We always catch the then 1045 flt,now BMI have re-sched it to 0915..and she returns on the 1005 out of DME..leaving chelny around 12 to catch the overnighter from Kazan(she has a friend she see,s)around 1730.arriving Moscow 0620ish...........metro.and express to DME...............eat and board arrive LHR 1115..and me meet and greet and home..love the M4/A30 Falmouth/Penryn(TR10-8SF)..........................another 12 hours out of the house(knackered)...

Do you guys check Last minute or Expedia?

There is a +3 day option on Lastminute so you can see which day for leaving and returning works out the cheapest (some flight carriers only go to Russia on certain days, i.e Rossiya now Aeroflot are normally just a weekend only flight to St Petersburg but there prices are normally around the £150-£160 mark if booked well in advance) I then punch in the same dates into Expedia to see if they are cheaper than Last Minute.

If you use Lastminute and Expedia then you can simplify things by using skyscanner.net. It's a portal that will check up-to-date prices from a number of companies including the two you mentioned along with prices direct from the relevant airlines themselves. It saves you having to type in the same details more than once and you can see price comparisons from all the companies on the same screen

Rossiya also have a sale on at the moment for any flights between 19th September and 20th December but you must book the flights before 25th July (next Monday). Looks like it's £85 return from London to St. Petersburg which is an absolute bargain although I'm not sure if that's excluding taxes. You would need to check.

Not good news in my opinion, BMI have had some pretty good deals in the past with their flights to Moscow and with just 3 carriers left now offering direct flights I can only see it costing more in the future.

Indeed, most of my flights from Edinburgh to Moscow over the last three years have been with BMI especially as I nearly always been able to get a good deal on the evening red eye flight across plus have a silver card and 60,000 airmiles too with them. Luckily with being Edinburgh based is that I can go via Schipol(me twice, wife twice) and Frankfurt(once as a second trip ended up via London due to a full flight) if need be.

Flights ticket prices are on a continuous rise. But people prefer airways due to its better facilities and comforts. Nowadays there are several airline agencies offering cheap flight tickets to different locations such as Indigo, JetLite, Air India, Indian Airlines etc.
