Hello,

I am a British citizen living overseas in the USA. I adopted my son ( Now aged 12) From Russia 8 years ago. My son is a US citizen. And A Russian Citizen. I applied for a UK passport for him a few years ago and lost my two hundred pounds as a processing fee . The explanation I received was short and sweet . It just said, because he was adopted he was not automatically entitled to a British passport. Does that mean I filled the wrong form? Or does that mean he can not get a passport?

Thanks Jackie

Adopted on or after 1 June 2003. Your child can get a British passport if either parent is British and the British parent was usually living ('habitually resident' in the UK when the child was adopted.
