not illicit vodka, just beers/wines.

anyone here of any homebrew specialist shops in Russia. Doing mail order might be useful? can't imagine it being available in Pyatigorsk market.

in-laws (visiting at the mo) are hooked on the idea..

Interesting..

Think that you/they would need an import licence for alcohol, which wont be easy to get, and if my thought train is right, would also need the product approvals from the relevant ministries...

Hi Mel. I think that you misunderstood my crudly phrased question.

They want to buy kits in Russia, brew it for their own consumption in Russia. Maybe they could buy the kits online in Russia because it certainly wont be available in their local market.

just received a very interesting PM with a link to a forum with suggestions on this..

the last post on that particular forum suggests that their plans are now ill-fated.

" Here you go:-

http://hcbeer.ru/brewing-kits/

They do everything from malt extract kits from British and other suppliers through to hops and malt so you can do everything from scratch. They also sell equipment.

Prices for malt extract are similar to what you would pay in the UK.

Just a little note on this. I was just checking something at work today and noticed that malt extract is one of the things on the list of sanctioned foods from the EU. So, there'll be no more malt extract beer kits coming from the UK for the forseeable future. "

cheers Mr Putin
